touring Australia

I will be shipping my 1958 Triumph T110 to Australia early 2007 to attend the Vincent Owners club rally and after this am planning to tour extensively. I would like any advice on the best places to visit and roads to ride as well as any advice on climate etc in late summer / autumn. regards, Brian Evans, Auckland, NZ

Difficult for me to give you the exact info you want but as no one has replied thought i'd let you know that about 10 years ago i rode from Perth to Adalaide then up to Tennants creek via Alice Springs and Ularu then on to Townsville then Sydney/ Melbourne/Adalaide and back to Perth a total of over 13,000 miles on a 1961 350 AJS two up so it's possible, all major routes have fuel, water and tar. Scenically the best bits are between the Adalaide/melbourne/Sydney area though I bet lot's of ozzies would dissagree, Mountains and twisty roads but the out back is awsome and I met some great people in Alice as well as other places. Ozzies love Brit bikes and I got places to stay and beer bought me by some of the nicest friendliest people on the planet. It's so good I'm going to be there in two weeks time but not on my old Ajay this time. if you want more info mail me and I'll send you my phone no.

Get the hemma Australia Motorcycle Atlas. Has a list of rides around the place. http://www.hemamaps.com.au/ click on 'atlas and guides' then search on 'motorcycle'. It is about two pages down from the top.

What do you like to see? What kinda roads do you like to ride?

Yer a kiwi so should know the climate - like yours but dryer. Head north to get warmer, south to get colder. Inland to get more range during the day.

Hi Frank

Thanks for your info.

Planning to travel around Easter 2007.

Sealed roads would be a priority but if its anything like NZ, some of the best scenery is on gravel roads.

Have been to Aussie several times so am quite conversant with the weather changes in the different parts.

Am locating a map book and one for the office wall.

Regards, brianevans
