Tour Operator Recommendation

HI everyone. Let me first say thanks to everyone who contributes to this website...there is a wealth of information here!

I am trying to plan a short trip to South America with my wife who is not a very experienced passenger and is a little nervous of riding in another country.

I have looked at all the tour operators listed on this site and only a few are within our price range.

Does anyone have an opinion (good or bad) on Peru Motors? They seem to be the least expensive tours by far. They seem to be about 1/2 as much as most tours and I want to know if there is a reason why.

Thanks in advance for any info on Peru Motors or any other tour operators that are affordable.

Hi, sorry I can not help with any experience, but I have been looking for similar trips for 2006 and the link you give to Peru Motors is the best value offer I have seen
The site layout and info gives the impression that they have the necessary experience and as you say the sensible prices offer good value.
I suggest you try them out and report back so I can learn from your adventure

Hi Britch,

We are waiting for a reply from them now to answer some more of our questions. It looks like the 13 day tour they offer does not include a support truck so I'm unsure how this will work on dirt bikes with a passenger as far as luggage goes. It seems they will arrange what ever kind of trip you want. We just need to see how the price changes.

It would be nice to hear from someone who has experience with them. Maybe we will be the first.

Have great new year!

I second the vote for Motoaventura. I have visited with them and they helped me out when I was passing through- in fact if you contact the HU comunity in Osorno you are contacting them. They know thier stuff, have top quality equipment. Speak English and German in addition to Spanish. Might not be cheapest, but you won't have problems.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
