Toudenni Timbuktu

Today I arrived back in Timbuktu from Toudenni. I have a contact for a good guide, reasonably priced, who could have taken me on past Toudenni all the way to Bir Mogrein. The guide used to work in the Ben Mogrein area and has taken a few groups there in the past, going from timbuktu through Toudenni. I am not sure if the Ben Mogrein border is open.

The trip from Timbuktu to Toudenni I did in a toyota 80, 15000 Km, 320 Litres diesel, 6 days, one vehicle, spur of the moment.

Diesel is, I am told, always available in Toudenni, I paid one pound per litre. From Todenni there are trucks going to Tendouf and to Gao.

The route from Timbuktu to Toudenni has some tricky passes, a lot of sand, some spectacular stretches and quite a lot of slow bumpy stuff.
