Things to do across the Americas

Hi all,
I'm trying to put together a list of activities I can engage myself in during my ride from Chile to the USA.

Here's what I have so far:
  • Attend the Dakar rally as a spectator
  • A helicopter flight
  • Scuba diving or snorkeling in the Caribbean
  • Set off my very own fireworks
  • Take my bike in a canoe
  • Either, some or all of Paragliding/Skydiving/Bungee jumping
  • Visit an abandoned theme park and/or ghost town
  • Ride the Transamerica Trail
  • Do wheelies on a beach
This list is nowhere near long enough so please help me with suggestions! :D

Well you can't do any of those things in the US except for paragliding/skydiving/bungee and ghost towns.

USA is my destination but I am starting in South America (and referring to the 'Americas' as the continent, not country). However I do believe options 2,4,5,8,9 could also be done in the USA :)

Read a guide book on it first?
Ask at the embassies about tourist brochures ?

Vist some 'World Heritage' listed areas World Heritage Centre - World Heritage List ?

Vist some Museums eg Smithsonian?

Attend a HU meeting?
Attend some Motorcycle rallies.. basically lots of stuff .. arr another source of info - other peoples bolgs on what they did ..

And I googled "essential american tourist sites" - some good looking responces ..

Visit Mex City and experience a really big city. I think it has more people thn all of Australia. If you want to come send me a PM. There are some really neat things to see here including some very nice pyramids. I normally meet people just outside the city and guide them in.
So you could put the follwing on your list:
visit a very big city
Climb the pyramid of the sun
Eat great street tacos
Visit one of the World's best Anthropology Museums
Ride through one of the World's biggest cities
plus lots more

What to do in the americas

Come by montana and shoot some guns. It is legal and fun. Ride below sea level in death valley. Watch a professional motorcycle hill climb and drink some beer. Watch a stock car race either at a small local track or at a national event with 100,000 other people. Attend a rodeo at a smaller western town. Attend a native american pow wow. Have fun.

Anthropology is the study of other cultures. At least that's what I got out of it after getting a bachelor's degree in Anthropology.

Going off of Bill's suggestions:

If you can spare the cash, join one of the teams for the 24 Hours of LeMons race. The 24 Hours of LeMons

Swing by Las Vegas and you can rent fully automatic machine guns.

Portuguese bull fights in California (that's the kind where they don't kill the bull).

Rent a car in San Francisco and play "Bullitt" late at night when it's a bit safer to get all four wheels off the ground.

If I'm around California when you're around, I'll take you to a ghost town in Nevada. Some friends and myself have adopted a town that we take care of.

All great suggestions thanks! Can't plan annual events though because I have no timeframe, hopefully by luck I can be around at the same time as one of those hillclimb contests, they're awesome (seen them on YouTube).
