Spain, Portugal and Morocco off road

Hi All, our plans for 2012 are a tour of Spain, Portugal and Morocco off road as much as possible leaving mid June and riding an XT660Z and XT600E. In Morocco we will ride in the mountains to avoid the high temperatures.
i am seeking advice on trail routes, cheap accomodation & campsites, must see sights, etc
the map shows our intended route which is not set in stone.
Thanks in advance, Andy

Thumbs up Must see!

Alhambra palace........beauifull, with excellent gardens and a real old feel.....well it is about a bazillion yrs old, im not really a "buildings" kind of guy, but i gotta admit it was pretty damn breathtaking.......pity they dont allow camping in there.! oh DO hire the headsets, they give commentary in your chosen language about where ever you go, history of building, and loads of good info! well worth a trip

check it out on google.........

Andy, that plan really sounds amazing
I will do the same countries in June (KLR 650), it would be a pleasure to meet you in the road.

Granada, Spain

We just did 3 nights in Granada - the Alhambra is historically breath taking, to experience flamenco... the Peña Flamencos are great especially the one up the street from Hostal Landazuri, (where we stayed, inexpensive like 45 euros a night for 2 plus 10 euros for safe and secure indoor parking. It is a Mother/ daughter team that run the place, but the young Mexican woman who works there is a work of art - intelligent bilingual and very welcoming).

We are now into Flamenco, big time. The "duende" is the point at which you really feel the music , the dance, the vocalist. It is more intense than tango.

Stay away from the tourist venues of flamenco - you will spend a lot and rarly have "duende".....to show for it. go for the peña flamencos.... ask around for directions from locals...

We are up on the north coast of spain now. Have a great ride

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
