Sout/East africa - Japan

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out where to go after crossing Africa. I'd been thinking of shipping to Japan.

Can you ship from south or east africa to Japan directly?

I would be able to ship from ports in south eastern africa (SA to kenia).
Maybe an alternative would be to ship to Australia first and then to Japan. But because of time/money constraints I'd prefer shipping straight to to Japan.

We're travelling 4x4, so air freight is no option :-)

Thanks!

Fred

I don't know any details, but I have heard of it being done for motorcycles. You'll have to check with shipping agents.

Thanks Chris!

I'll send some mails to freighters. From what I've read Nagoya is the main harbour in south Japan, is this correct?

Cheers,

Frederik

Actually, Nagoya is more central than south. If you want a southern port, that would be Fukuoka/Hakata.
Both Fukuoka and Nagoya have international airports (for you). and sea ports.
If you transfer in Bangkok, Thailand, I am sure you could get a flight to either of those cities. Tokyo and Kansai (Osaka) are the biggest international airports.
See my website for more information. Much of the information is the same for motorcycles and cars.
