Depends how far you want to go.......

I was up there in January this year and got as far as Gilgit. About 1500m there but the road climbs steeply to the Chinese border after, i think its 3000m+ , but im sure its not much less.
I think we were lucky and got a weather window as we didnt see much snow apart from in Muree and on the Chattar Plain. It was -25C at night in Gilgit though.
The ride up was absolutely amazing and the highlight of our trip, so if the weather looks okay-ish i'd say it would be worth a go, although i reckon 0% chance of getting to the Chinese border(okay maybe 1%)
Posted some video footage of the KKH on our blog. A 5 minute montage of Pakistan, mainly the KKH

Awesome

Hey Wonky - those are awesome videos, well done mate! Inspiring.

We hoping to hit there in a couple of years in a 4x4 and I'm salivating at the thought.

Can I ask a question about putting videos on your blog? I haven't really been in touch with the you tube generation (legal reasons), is it dependant on the blog, on can you wack one on from you tube onto any blog?

Anyway mate, great site ......

Only messed with it last week. Exported vid from FinalCutExpress as a vid for web at 'medium broadband' file size. Got a YouTube account. Posted it. YouTube give you html code and then you cut and paste it into your blog.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
