Riding through South America Nov 1/08 to Feb 1/09...Any suggestions?

Hello!...Two friendly Canadians, from Vancouver, are riding their R1200GS's through South America beginning in Equador in early November 2008 and out of Argentina at the beginning of February 2009. If anyone has any suggestions on great roads, places to stay, amazing sights and safety concerns or prep. items we may have forgotten...any info. is appreciated. Thank-You!

Hi Guys, just looking at Argentina and Chile.

Argentina: Iguazu falls.
B.A. (Dakar Motors) and visit Pollo's little backpackers, 625 Mendoza AZUL. A must.
Penninsula Valdes for the whales in December. (Bottom of the hill going into the village use the company with the big semi rigids that faces you on the right, if you see what I mean.)
Ruta 40.
Mendoza and the N.West.

Chile: Towers of Paine.
Carraterra Austral.
The coast road north from Antifagusta?

Couple of tips, make sure that you have insurance for the motos, or the cops will get you. Do not speed in Chile or the cops, who are a para military outfit and the creme de la creme, will get you. Also Chile ranks alongside Canada for law abiding drivers except of course for those very important people who live in cities.

A final word of encouragement, I have taken my R1200GS to all of these places and as long as you can avoid the piles of gravel and the mud on 40 and Austral it eats it. Ride safe
