Riding South of San Felipe, Baja Mexcio

A few friends and I are taking a trip to Baja and was wondering what the roads south of San Felipe are like? We were planning on doing a loop, crossing at Mexicali, south to San Felip, continuing south to Guerro Negro and then back north through Rosarito and Ensenada.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks

I rode south from San Felipe about a year ago - rough dirt, lots of corrugations, some sandy patches, but extremely beautiful. There's petrol in the supermarket by the Bahia Gonzalez crossroads, plus great hotel right on the beach. Then there's Coco's Corner and the dirt comes back to the tarmac.

Cheers, suerte, Dan

Agree with Dan, the road to Puertocitos is paved with a lot of holes, bad for a car, a bike can go around. after that is gravel, little rough in the beginning, than with washboard. After Cocos Corner the gravel is better if it did not rain, if it did, it is a muddy slippery 25 km ride. From there u hit the road and it is a smooth ride to Guerrero Negro (btw. not a really nice town), San Ignacio 150km further south is much nicer. allow 2 days from San Felipe to Guererro Negro.
