The quickest, easiest route from Cairo - Mainland Europe?

What are anyones thoughts on this? We are in a Land Rover and will have been on the road for more than four months and not too bothered about seeing too much more of the world on this trip - we just want to get back to England for some commitments we have there in October.

So the quickest easiest drivable route (without sticking the car on a boat and flying back!) since there are no more roro's from Egypt to Greece/Italy as I understand it.

Thanks,

d

Hmm, if it isn't possible to get the ferry from Alex, you are limited for options aren't you.

I say, either get to Israel, ferry to Cyprus and the ferry to mainland Europe.

Or...you're going to have to go across to Jordan on the ferry, then Jordan, Syria, Turkey, which if you are in a hurry, is quite a long way around, even though it is all paved.

Maybe there is a better option than the ones I can think of, but er...I can't think of it. Sorry.

Hi Birdy hope my reply is helpful !
best thing is Jordan Syria Turkey its not that long ,all paved roads ,you can do it in a week time easy to Izmir where you can take a boat to Italy or to France
ferry from Egypt to Jordan is daily ,and not expensive
the hard thing is to get Syrian visa but you can get it in a week time in Cairo
option 2 is to go via Libya ,Tunisia ,then ferry boat to Italy or France
but Libyan visa takes ages ,then you pay a lot for a convoy and then the very damn expensive busy (cause of summer time ) boat from Tunisia to Europe
enjoy your trip what ever is going wrong as the time will pass any way
cheers
