Planning RTW trip
 

Greetings all,

I am planning a RTW trip. The route starts in Australia then to Malaysia/ Thailand, then India overland to Turkey and Europe and then a break in UK/Ireland. After Ireland, down to Spain and Morocco and then across the Sahara and down to South Africa. After that depends on time, money and inclination and/or exhaustion.

I have a R100GSPD and I am allowing 12 months to complete the trip. My questions concern the best times to travel the two major legs.

1. What time of the year is the best time to travel across Asia overland(India/Pakistan/Iran/Turkey) and then onto Ireland?

2. What is a reasonable timeframe for this part of the trip, doing it slowly?


(After a break in Ireland of 3-4 weeks, I will be heading for Spain and Morocco.)

3. What time of the year is the best time of the year to cross the Sahara
(November perhaps?) and then continue down to South Africa?

4. What is a reasonable timeframe for this part of the trip, doing it very slowly?

Any advice, suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
