RTW route planning suggestions

Hello fellow bikers

I'm in the process of planning a route RTW for my trio beginning in January 2012. Im looking for a few suggestions and advise. Im setting off from india and heading east. India -> South East Asia -> Australia -> New Zealand -> South America -> North America -> Canada -> Great Britain -> Europe -> Turkey -> Kazaksthan -> Russia -> back to India.

Thats the plan for now. Im open to all kinds of suggestions. Im planning to ride a Bandit 1250S and I'd prefer to ride on tarmac as much as possible.

Basically, any kind of help/advise/suggestion will be greatly appreciated. If you have a route map for a similar journey then i would love to see that as well.

thanks guys

How long do you plan to be on the road?

East from India, I think you´ll face one of the challenges straight away (how to get to Southeast Asia, as there are obstacles in the form of the Himalayas, China, Burma & the Bay of Bengal).

But your already in the right place: browse this very forum, and also the Southern Asia-section for a few days, and you´re guaranteed to find plenty of info.

I actually posted a sort of map here before. If you like to see it, check out the thread: Routes north of the Caspian Sea - (the title is misleading, as the map´s got more or less all of northern, western and central Asia & Indian subcontinent.... and why I made it, all this is related to a series of articles on a magazine, so right now I´m in the process of making something similar about possible routes in SE Asia, and hopefully from the Americas, too).

Ask Specific Questions!

Deadman,

You get so few responses because you don't ask specific questions. Do your research (even on this site) and THEN ask specific questions! You will get more info than you can handle!

Just a tip.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
