paris to eastern europe/turkey route suggestions?

greetings earthlings

I am currently in paris and looking for my next adventure. I rode from the U.S. to Argentina last year on my trusty KLR 650 and am itching for another big ride, though not quite so long (ie 10 months)...

I have 3 months from june to september and will start and end in paris, hoping to get as far as poland, ukraine and possibly turkey. Thus I am hoping that some other hubb members could suggest me a route, "not to miss" roads or regions or even whether it is possible to make it that far in that time.

I 'm looking for an "off the beaten path" type tour, ie not flashy hotels or tourist centers, but plenty of wild roads, camp spots and local culture.

After surviving routes such as uyuni in bolivia to san pedro de atacama in chile (which I highly recommend to other suicidal bikers), the "adventure junky" in me is suffering withdrawals. If you can help me please post your thoughts...

cheers...

If Turkey will be included and you haven't been here before, minimum;
1- Three days for İstanbul,
2-15 days to discover and visit worth-to- see natural and historical places just in western parts.
3-30 days to discover all beauties including only Mount Nemrut,Stone Road,Dark Canyon in east Anatolia.

needed.

Camping always available and free outside touristic areas. You will meet many bikers sharing natura with you.

Highly recommend 2 different bordergates for entrance and exit from Europe.
1-İpsala gate to Greece
2-Kapıkule or Dereköy to Bulgaria.

More questions about any subject, route planning always welcome.
Free maps and catalogs available in istanbul Bikers Club garage and all information offices countrywide.

Wish you best,safe,happy trips.

You could easily go beyond Europe and the bits of Asia that you have in mind in your timescale; some people have travelled by motorcycle from the UK to Mongolia, and return, in 6 weeks (not that I recommend that type of "another day, another country" form of travel).
So time is not a limitation to you; I suggest that you read through the "Europe" forum which has loads of ideas and then you will have more focussed, specific ideas of which way to go.

Hi Zundapp. Will be heading to Turkey in June via Italy and Greece. Hope to make it as far as the Kemaliye Stone Road between Divrigi and Erzincan, in Turkey. Seems out of this world and not too far from Nemrut Dagi National Park, another must see...Returntrip through the West Balkans, the backroads through these countries are also great. safe riding! Rob.

Thanks for the replies, I definately would like to tour Turkey so thanks for those suggestions. I am hoping someone could suggest some routes through maybe Switzerland and Austria, because at this stage I will probably take that route to the eastern states then return via the baltics and coast. I definately prefer to take my time so won't be rushing through countries. I've been surfing through other peoples adventures and there is so much to see it's hard to decide!!

cheers all
