oxford to Mauritania
 

Im currently in the planning stages of a trip from oxford to Zouerat in nothern Mauritania to spend a few weeks collecting data on dust emission.

Does anyone have any advice on an estimated time for getting down there? at the moment im trying to decide between driving down through france, or cutting that out and getting the ferry from portsmouth to Bilbao in spain before crossing into north africa and heading down the coasts of morroco and western sahara before cutting inland from Nouadhibou.

a complete alternative would be to fly to Nouakchott and hire a vehicle. does anyone know if this would be a feasible option?

any and all advice concerning the timings or general information related to the trip e.g. about specific border crossings, fuel stops, local information on Zouerat etc would be hugely appriciated!
