Other advice needed, Dublin - Cape Town!

Hi,

I'm also planning a Trans-Africa trip,
Dublin - Turkey - Syria - Jordan - Saudi - Sudan - Ethiopia - Kenya - Tanzania - Mozambique - South Africa, starting in March '06 on a F650 Dakar (and KTM 640).

My primary concern is that the fuel range on a standard F650GS with a 10 litre jerry can is about 550km (340 miles). Is this range sufficient or do I need to resort to expensive modifications?

The African portion of the route is fine. I have a 640 Adv. (28 litre tank with approx 450km range, depending on speed / condition) and have never once hit reserve on that route.

Can't comment on the Saudi situation, although considering they produce so much of the stuff, I doubt it would be a problem.
