Question Norway to South Africa. CAR & DRC help requested.

Hey all.

In Benin at the moment, but leaving to cross Nigeria, into Cameroon to get a visa for CAR, then to Bungui (CAR) to get a visa for DRC. Anyone know how easy it is to get the DRC visa there? I have seen some ngative things about getting it in Yaounde.

My route through DRC. A few options really, all which "seem" possible in my road atlas (Yes I have to GPS, and I am not old and technologically challeneged. I am 25).

Option 1 a:

(CAR) Bangui - Sibut - Bambari - Mobaye - (DRC) Yakoma - Monga - Bondo - Buta

Option 1 b:

(CAR) Bangui - Sibut - Bambari - Kembe - Bangassou - (DRC) Monga - Bondo - Buta

Option 1 c:

(CAR) Bangui - (DRC) Zongo - Gemena - Akula - Lisala - Bumba - Aketi - Buta

....................
So those are my options for part 1. Any ideas of which is the best (Fuel, hassle, massive motorbike sucking mud pits)???
....................

Option 2 a:

(DRC) Buta - Banalia - Kisangani - Bafwabalinge - Nia Nia - Mambasa - Beni - Kisindi - (Uganda) Mbarara

Option 2 b:

(DRC) Buta - Titule - Niangara - Dungu - Aba - (Down SSE towards Aru, but cross into Uganda before) - (UGANDA) Okollo...

....................

So those are my options as it stands. Others include creating my own roads through southern Sudan etc, but are not sane.

So... does anyone have some useful information on any of those routes with regards to the above mentioned criteria and any other info relating to that part of Africa you think I should know.

I would like to research more, but time does not allow, and I am freaking out being glued to the computer screen for this long.

Your info would be greatly welcomed... please

Cheers, Rob

Can't help you with the route, really. Just know that CAR means serious hassle, eastern DRC/Uganda is dangerous and there's a referendum on independence in Southern Sudan in January. You have been warned.

Get DRC visa in Abuja, easiest place.

DRC visa in Yaoundé was no problem for friends of mine this summer.

Good luck, Julian

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
