Off Road Trip Mexico

I am trying to help two Swiss guys plan an off road trip starting and ending in Mexico City. They have 30 days and will be leaving on Wenesday. The weather won't be good enough to go to Copper Canyon so where can they go? They will be on an F650GS and a DR650. They want to ride off road as much as possible. They also don't want to go south as they will do that later. I think Queretaro, Michoacan, Veracruz, Puebla and other central States would be good but don't know anything about secondary or gravel roads. Help them, please

Real de cartorce

Hi!
I would go north of Mexico City, to the old Ghost Town of Real de catorce. Its locating high up in the mountains. I loved this place myself. Take a turn off Central Highway 57 west of Matahuala and head deep into the mountains. Located right on the Tropic of Cancer in the Sierra Madre Occidental.

Real de Catorce, Mexico's Finest Ghost Town in the Clouds

Cheers
Haakon

If there is an accessible ferry to get into Baja Sur from the west coast of Mexico, I think Baja would give them some off-road adventures.

From the Map of Mexico Directory - 4,000+ pages of mexico maps with 2,500+ still, ipix and panoramic mexico pictures including mexico weather! site, there is a ferry shown from Mazatlan to La paz in Baja Sur if the riders wanted to ride in Baja. I do think there will be some good off-roading there

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
