Norway to Moscow

Will be traveling next year through Norway, Russia, Finland and back to Sweden. Has anyone actually travelled down the Kola peninsula towards Moscow?

The area is very flat itself. Roads are very good in Finland, Sweden and Norwegian side but hey don't suppose for a highway :-)
Roads not so perfect as Western side of Russia but will cope with that.
Should I say that you should definitely go for it after late May until October.

Very nice route. Would like to ride with you. :thumbup1:

Hi, It is June 2008. The route will be (hopefully):
Bergen - Tromso and then onto the Russian border. Onto
Murmansk then down to Moscow and then back up to St Petersburg.
Across to Finland, up to Sweden onto Stokholm, Gothenburg and then back home to the UK. The plan is to do this in two months!!!!

And the bike is at present a 2001 Kawasaki ZX6r J2 (in yellow).

Hi, I have done most but not all of your planned journey over previous years, I think you would find a different bike far more suited to the journey as the roads in Northern Norway can be poor but in Northern Russia along with many roads in Russia the roads can be ok or really bad. a lot of the road on the trip south from nikel in the north are rutted and poor with gravel sections, Bright yellow sports bike will make the going hard and very uncomfortable or very slow, and it shouts FINE ME I am RICH to Russian Police. But overall the trip sounds great and two months gives you loads of time. I would also consider coming out of Russia into southern Estonia from Moscow then North to Tallin and Ferry it over to Finland If thats your chosen route to home, Its just a lot easier than travelling way back north through Russia as the St Petersburg / Moscow road is a long haul to do twice in one trip.

Time and bike

The route is ok, we can make some add-ons but there is two problem:
1. Two monyhs time is so long for me... (Can't be more than 1 month)
2. Your bike is not suitable for that roads. Not at all.

Think about once again...

Did you do the trip?

We are planning Belgium-Baltic States-Kola peninsula (out down SE to the white sea), then back up NW to Murmansk, then Norway-Sweden and back. 4 weeks for the trip.

Would be great to hear any feedback from your travels...

Sam.
