North To Alaska

For those planning a trip North to Alaska please feel free to contact me for any specific up to date information for your Alaska ( Alcan ) Hiway leg of your journey. The Alaska Hiway starts at the mile zero city of Dawson Creek B.C. Canada.

There are many things to see along the hiway plus some alternate routes via Stewart/Cassiar and Ross River Hiway's. If you have the time there is also many side road excursions that will take you into the northern tip of British Columbia (Atlin) and Skagway Alaska. Circle tour of the Yukon including Dawson City/Faro. For the more adventuresome and WW 2 history buffs have information on how to access parts of Canol Trail in the North West Territories. The Canol Trail was built along with a pipeline to supply oil to military basis along the Alaska Hiway. You can still find many WW-2 relic vehicles abandon and stock piled along this trail.

I'm not a tour guide nor do I represent any business interests. I'm just a long time resident of this part of the world and from one biker to an other, be more then happy to help you through my neck of the woods. Keep your mind in the middle and your spark plugs dry.

Next spring/summer I am planing on taking the ferry From Bellingham, WA to Valdez AK and riding back. What would you recomend for some of the most scenic and fun rides? What about camp grounds and beautiful national/provincial parks? Does 10 days seem reasonable to travel that diatance(not including ferry) and still have time to go hiking and adventuring on the side? Thanks alot for your entusiasm and information.
By the way, I am also a firefighter for the City of Bellingham (IAFF local 106). Maybe we can trade t-shirts when I cruise through your town. Feel free to email
thanks a lot

North to Alaska

I'm new to the site, been dreaming for a long time of taking a motorcycle trip to Alaska. Really don't know what to expect, never been to Canada, and what kind of road conditions, especially on the Alaska Highway. What is the availability of fuel? My trip may still be a year away, but never too early to start planning. Any info would be helpful. Thanks, Tony:scooter:

It's a great trip. Start planning now and who knows you might get there sooner than you think. Get a copy of "Milepost" it will tell you bunches about gas and road conditions. Then read a few stories on this site. Sometimes it rains sometimes it is hot and smoky so just don't take one story as the constant.

Hi Windwalker, if all goes well I set off from England to Halifax, NS; this July.:mchappy:
Still planning though, you can see how far I've got here http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tstories/fairless/

After going through NF & Labrador I'm heading for Dawson City and intend to pick up the Dempster Hwy to Inuvik in August, Then south to Glacier and Montana. Any comments/tips about getting to Inuvik?

Best regards,
