Arrow North and East Europe Trip - Tips anyone? :)

Hey All,

I've read through quite a few posts and like some of the other members I am planning a trip to the north and east of Europe.

I ride an old TDM 850 mk1 which seems quite reliable so I would appreciate if anyone has any pointers, recommendations etc
My intention is to leave London around end of May or start of June and aim to follow the route more or less as per below:

Bing Maps~

Having read through the posts I am aware of the visa requirements for Russia so will start organising that (probably go through the agent and pay the extra pounds) but I am wondering on the following:

- sleeping/camping ability enroute...my other options is hostels so any pointers there would be great...I do have a budget of only about 10 euros in mind for nightly accommodation not sure if thats feasible
- places to see enroute that are not to be missed
- the kind of tyres that would be ideal...looking to do a little trail so a decent long distance dual sport would be ideal..but which one?
- any other tips/recommendations

Obviously if anyone is keen on such a trip then let me know, it may be that it will be a few of us going anyway...the time away is not too long, am planning around 3 weeks which is basically 9500 minus london copenhagen and berlin london distance (roughly 2500km) as I plan to ride through (as I visit these countries all the time)

Thanks in advance

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
