Sweden to Thailand through China by motorbike?

Finally, done dreaming. After travelling to Iceland and experiencing my GSA in offroad country it is time do go for it!

Starting to slowly plan my trip across Asia. Plan would be to cross Finland, Russia, traverse Mongolia (which comes highly recommended), China, Laos and finally Thailand.

China seems to be a country that people avoid, is it due to restrictions concerning interprovincial crossing with a foreign motorbike?? Can it be done? Tried looking here on the hubb for some more info however coming up short. Help would be very appreciated.

Has anybody here traversed China with a foreign motorbike?? How did that go?

Bikes intended are two BMWs (R1200GSA and F800GS)

Cheers

Adam

Hi Adam,

Yes, it can be done, but it will cost quite much money.
There are several threads ongoing at the moment regarding crossing China.

No offense, but I get a feeling you did not look hard enough.

Several threads here about the exact subject that you´re curious about. China and Burma are the two big problems, that make overland-travel from Europe to SE Asia so complicated.

As Hemuli says all possible just the cost that hurts!
We are spending 34 days September 2013 travelling in China entering from Kyrgyzstan and leaving Mohan into Laos via Everest base camp, i dont know about tours entering from Mongolia to Loas have read about people heading the other way which might be an option to you.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
