Hey all..
great site here...
I am considering a trip from canada (ottawa) down through central america and maybe through south america too... travelled many years ago and have worked in many diff countries... feels like a lifetime ago..I have been riding motorcycles most of my life...I feel i need to get out and have an adventure, but it has been so long I will admit I am a bit scared at the prospect... im not sure if I had a question here... just thought there might be some words of encouragement out there...

Heres a question though...
Would you ride down to Mexico from Ottawa, or just fly in and start from California or something? Guess i'd have to buy a bike there...

I am thinking about going Early oct, would probably be more comfortable if I had someone on the ride with me...

Anyone around that time frame?

I just got back from 7 1/2 months riding through South America. Last year i did all of Central America (twice). GO FOR IT!

I would go from Ottowa. First, it makes leaving easier since you will be packing up the bike at home. Also, it generally takes some time to figure out how you should have packed, and what you forgot, and it's easier to get parts or other things in the US during your first week or two. Also, why miss Mexico?

Of course, depends on how much time you have. Do whatever you can... but do it!

I"m planing on leaving from vancouver and heading to mexico on the 8th of october. Mostly to ride through the copper canyon region and then on to PV for a couple of days.

i will ride rather than transport the bike and plan on taking 3 to 4 days to travel through the states before mexico. If you are serious about buying the bike in the states make sure it's on the riv list if you plan and bringing it back into canada.
