I beginning the process of my planning to travel from UK to NZ.

Planned departure date is mid 2013...so about 30 months and counting.

I've ridden from London to Singapore so have a fair idea of what lies ahead, but this time I'll be taking a 4x4 with wife and the kids....not sure I can get a bike on the back but who knows!

I'm trying to get information on how to get the 4x4 around Myanmar.

My current thinking is to try and go Nepal-China-Vientam-Cambodia

Can anyone tell me about how to cross from Nepal to China. I need to know where the crossing is, details about what sort of visa is required and what you have to do to get the vechile in (I get the impression a guide etc is mandatory...but any feedback/ details of where to find more info etc appreciated).

I think China to Vietnam should be easier, crossing at something called Friendship Pass (yet to look it up on the map!). Anyone know anything about this? I recall that there are limits on what size bikes you can take into Vietnam, anyone know whether there are similar rules on 4x4s? Another option is China to Laos but I will look nto that later.

Next is Vietnam to Cambodia - looking for any details on this crossing point.
