Ralf & Eva,

Sorry, nothing. SAA or Qantas would be a place to start. Also Malaysian Air can do some really good deals, we used them for SA to South America, and were surprised at the difference to other airlines.

When you do find something please post it in the "Shipments by Travellers" section on the left menu - we have NO shipments for that route - surprising, considering there's over 300 shipments in there now.

Best of luck,

bonjour,

as Grant said allready, I would try Malaysian Airlines. Or maybe try some agents in Joburg. Try flying into Perth, it is going to be easier to get the bikes out. Sydney can be a nightmare, if you fly the bike into Sydney make sure your carnets are not extended.

Maybe you can get a good deal by container ship from Durban, but than you will have to wait in Oz. Both, RSA and Oz are not cheap for Backpackers.

hey, you want to leave Africa so soon, there is still a lot more to explore - and there will allways be ;-)

we arrived yesterday in Libreville, man we had mud and water in Congo and hundreds of flee Le Fourou bites.

Please email me again the places where you left the travelguides and of course your bank details - we got the money in Pointe Noire, thank you.

enjoy southern Africa

Try www.go2uti.com You will find them in South Africa as well.

I just spoke to a guy from UTi in Munich, because there's an old thread on the HUBB (year 2000) by somebody flew his bike from Cologne to Windhoek for a very reasonable price with UTi. I shall probably engage them from Munich to Johburg - they offered the cheapest bid so far.

Good luck!
Hans

UTI are good. for their cheaper service, they consolidate freight ie wait till they have a full pallet. it goes low priority so stay sopmewhere with something to do unless it gets delayed!

I flew Sydney-Cape Town last year and my bike went with BA/Qantas Sydney-Singapore-London-Cape Town cos the SAA flights were full. BAX Global have offices in both SA and Oz. its all easier than shipping by sea and, if you dismantle your bike to make it smaller, faster for the same money

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
