Morocco Overland

Hi Everyone,

i am to morocco in overland prepared vehicle, Toyota Landcruiser 3.0 TD. It is still a work in progress, but it is nearly there!

This is my second trip to Morocco. Two years ago I rented out a car and driven there for about a week (including Test - Tizi). This time around i am driving down my Landcruiser and staying nearly 3 weeks in Morocco. I have done some research including purchasing the 'Morocco Overland' book.

In a nut shell i am looking for some advice on some routes that would be appropriate to to my vehicle and my experience and why. Although the 'Morocco Oveland' is comprehensive, it often does not gives an accurate depiction of how demanding some pistes can be.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

4x4 Marokko
This is a dutch couple, which has nou a camping in Ouzoud and has driven through Africa for 4 years in their Hilux.

Now they organise tours (offroad) and for sure can help you out!

Try get a copy of "Sahara Overland". Same author.

There is something like 2000km's of pistes dubbed the "Grand Traverse of the Moroccan Sahara" .

The pistes described there had comments on their difficulty. I too have a Land Cruiser 3.0TD (Prado/Colorado), and from what I read all those pistes would be a piece of cake in this truck.

I am planning on doing as much of those as possible in April/May next year.:funmeteryes:

Hey Doc,

I've traveled several of the 'Morocco Overland' routes and they were all easily do-able in a well prepared 4x4. Unless you're a well experienced overlander, some of the more remote routes can be a little daunting, especially if you're going solo, but with good planning I reckon they are all doable.
Which areas are you thinking of going to and when are you planning to go??

Pete

Hi, I hope you don't mind me asking but when are you planning ur trip to Morocco? i ask as i am looking into getting 2 bikes transported to southeren Spain (for a trip into Morocco) and back, in the summer (i have a trailer). i would of course pay for this service which would help with your costs.
If you or anyone else is interested or know of a company that would transport the bikes at a reasonable cost please get in touch. Andy
