Morocco Jan 09

Hi. A couple of us are planning a ride from the UK - Marrakesh on around the third week of JAN 09. It has to be these dates because of leave entitlement. We do want to ride through Spain though so its not really an option to hire bikes once in Morocco.

The only thing being we don't really want to ride through France and the ferry companies dont seem to operate from the UK-Northern Spain.

I have then been looking into the Auto Train. It seems that SNCF run a service. Does anyone have any experience or know any ferry company that will be operating at this time of year?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hope you have a good one!

This sounds pretty reasonable.

I believe that DB Autozug may have some trains that go towards the south of France - only down side is you have to catch them in Germany . Price wise Sncf will be very expensive and any ferry across the Bay of Biscay will be well rough that time of the year . There also used to be a ferry from somewhere near Marseille - have a look in the Rough guide to Morocco as it shows all the routes that you can take to get there .
Have fun

Ferries may be an option

Brittany Ferries run ferries from Plymouth to Santander. I believe P & O run from Portsmouth to Bilbao. Hope you have a good trip!

Unfortunately you've chosen the time of year when the ferry companies have their boats overhauled.

You can google for French motorail services. One option is to take the boat from Sete in southern Spain to Tanger.

Having looked at the options we are just going to ride the whole way.

Just need to do some more digging now for available routes once in Morocco then picking the best way down through France. Where to stay in Spain etc.
