London to London and EVERYWHERE in between...

So....I know I've asked for advice on this before and I've been told I need to be a little more specific. Having gone away and read and thought etc here is a little plan of what we want to do.

We plan to leave in the summer of 2015 in a vehicle that has a kitchen, bathroom, bed so that we will be self contained and hopefully save money on hotels, cooking with fresh food or buying local street market food. I'm aware our biggest expense will therefore be fuel.

We want to be away for 4-5 years and plan on taking about £50 000 with us. And also want to stop and work where we can. Has anyone experience with that? A lot of what we want to do is natural beauty things so I am guessing (perhaps more hoping) that lots of that is free.

The plan (ish ish ish!) is to do Europe...being aussie I can only be in the schengen area for 3 months so we want to do 3 months then three months in switzerland to work and then another 3ish months on another visa.

Then I dont know if we should head west on south to africa for around a year, stopping and volunteering in orphanages.then ship over to the americas, do there for 18 monthish....then ship to asia and do that and head back via Russia perhaps?

Or do we do asia, americas and then Africa?

Any thoughts or advice or even if this is doable would be really appreciated.

Think about the money. You have say $20,000 per year... that is not much. Less than $55 per day.. including fuel, shipping the vehicle, insurance... everything.

Europe is expensive. So is USA. You'll also find it hard to get real money by working short term in other countries, even the 'expensive' ones. Working in the 'cheap' countries will mean low wages.

==================
While your workin in London .. try to see as much as you can of the local areas .. thus saving your longer trip for more distant locations ... you save money this way because you still need a break and you get to 'do' the break and see some stuff you wanted to see.

=========================
Natural beauty things .. Try the UN world heritage thingys, look at where they are and try to 'see' those spending more time in the 'cheaper' places. Reduce your time in the expensive places. Reduce your shipping costs by keeping the vehicle small enough to be shipped in a standard container AND skipping places that contain little or are cheaper to see by using local transport (asia springs to mind).

Good Luck.

Should be do-able, but when you ship on a longer distance a vehicle, that has a kitchen, etc., that will set you back some money. From London, driving to Cape Town, or south India, or the Russian Far East, should be possible without any major shippings, and without having to get into China (another stumbling block, that´s guaranteed to cost some serious money).

But if you plan to travel for years, then maybe a few shippings won´t sink your budget.

The plan now is to do Africa, ship to South America, go up to Canada, ship to Asia and head back. Anyone got any thoughts of what to do in the Western Sahara?
