Liverpool to Alaska and maybe further?
 

Well, this April SWMBO and i ( two bikes) are taking the bikes over the states. We have about 5 months to travel and we are planning to head through America and then up to Alaska. I have been searching the threads but would like some imput of bikers who has done simila. I have found a company who can ship the bikes roro in Liverpool to Baltimore but from then on its an open plan. Some questions i am stuggling to answers are:

Do we need a special visa? USA? Multiple entry?

Do we need to have a visa into Canada?

What are the best things to see on route?

If we make good time i believe you can do a direct route in about a month and half. is it possible to get into Russia from Anchorage?

Can you sort visas for Russia in Alaska?

In Russia could we ride it back to Europe in 3 Months?

I know there is alot of questions and i am just getting a feel of the search facility, if you can point me in the right direction or any advice it will be appreciated. :scooter:

Then the Visa wavier program is for you.

Possible suggestion,

Get your bikes transported to the south, may be Jacksonville, or Houston,
Ride to the west coast. interstate 10 or parallel, route, then Interstate 8 or similar route
then north up Interstate 5 to LA.
Then route 396
Then Interstate 80 or similar
Then route 101 all the way to Canada

then go 'open plan'

Is there any reason why South is better ? It's just that me and my pal Mark are stating a RTW trip west to east in April 2011 and we were thinking about heading in through Baltimore as we understood that there was no need to crate the bike etc.

I see from your sign off that you might be involved in cargo and if that's so we would welcome some advice from you.

Hi,

I lived in the states for a while, and each time, I brought a car back.
I bought it while I was there and used it, then brought it back to UK.
South is generally more hospitable and friendly, and warmer weather.
