Iran VISA for American?

Any Americans have luck getting a Visa to transit Iran west to east recently or have be balled it up with our threats to bomb the place?

An American.

**EDIT ** OK, so I took a look online and see that Iran is not issuing visas for unescorted, non tour guide related visits for Americans, so seems unlikely I would get to ride across unescorted.Anyone who knows more is welcome to add....

AFAIK, your **EDIT** is correct: Americans are only issued Iran visas if part
of an approved tour guided by an Iranian tour company on a specific itinerary.
The first (and at the moment, last) such moto tour for Americans was in 2006 by Guided Motorcycle Tours & Adventures, Mexico, Central America, Europe, Asia - MotoDiscovery.
You could--in theory--arrange an escorted transit itinerary ride west to east by yourself if you were willing to pay all the costs (including hotel + vehicle) of an accompanying guide who works for an Iranian travel agency approved by the Iran govt.
To my knowledge, no rider traveling on a USA passport has done that in
the last ten years. But there's always a first

Yes, you can tell the pioneers, they are the ones with the arrows sticking out of their chests. I'm looking for adventure - maybe not this much though.

2 solutions available.
1-bypass İran and airfreight/seafreight your bike from İstanbul to any city in Asia which is quite expensive and already done by 2 American bikers we have met here last year...
2-Transfer to Russia by Trabzon(TR) Sochi(RU) ferry ships.done by all bikers to bypass İran.
Wish you all the best.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
