Asia - Australia?

Are the any ferries that could get me from South East Asia to Northern Australia???

I've been toying with the ultimate road trip (UK - Australia) and this is the only major stumbling block.

Don't get me wrong there are other hurdles (slight understatement) but nothing that is impossible!!!

Try this one

Perkins Shipping from Darwin - Dilli - Singapore or reverse. I have not used them but have spoken to others that have. All good reports.
Perkins Shipping Group - Home

Hope this helps, look me up when you get over this way.

ferries/freighters

I have been toying with the same idea, for a trip sometime in the (near) future but by car. Are there people who did Indonesia too? How are the connections between the islands? Are there ferries / freighters to Darwin from Indonesia? What would be the best 'last' island to ship from?

cheers,

Noel

Thats great!!

Glen said theres a ship goes fro S'pore-Dilli-Darwin.(approx 10days)
If thats the case then the last islands from indonesia is Dilli.
so Noel, you actually hop from the last island indonesia which is Dilli & head to Down Under! In less than 10days!

Saw your video clip, very nice!
oved the part when the 2 guys on bike with Rachid Taha's in the backgrond "Ya Rayyah" its one of my favorite!

No passenger ferry?

If all goes well, and my budget will allow, I may continue south from Thailand somewhere around the beginning of next year...

Please correct if Im wrong, but Perkins Shipping seems to offer freight services, not passenger ferries or freight ships with cabins for passengers? So you´d need to crate your bike, to put in as freight, and arrange your own travel, like flight tickets, to meet the ship when it arrives. Much more hassle than just using a ferry.

So there does not seem to be any passenger ferry operating between Australia and Indonesia, is that right?
