Greece and Adriatic Coast. Any advice?

Firstly, this really is an excellent site. Congrats to all involved. Now. Down to business. This summer im planning on travelling from Ireland to Venice then taking the ferry to Patras in Greece. From the I plan to make my way back through Eastern Europe<im open to any route> possibly hug the Adriatic coast or maybe further inland. This is a solo camping trip so security issues are paramount. Any advice gratefully appreciated. Doing trip on GS1150 hard luggage and garmin gps v, and lots of balls. Thanks.

HI!

Well,general security mesures are aplicable
Keep an eye on your stuff,etc..
An alarm/imobiliser for the bike is preferable, and mehanic aniti teft(U lock, chain)
But if u don't stick around in one place,u shouldn't have that kind of problems.
The region is relatively safe,so no problems
If u go north from greece be carefull in Macedonia, stick to the main road, and do not drive at night.Don't even think about going to West part of Macedonia,Kosovo or Albania,if you don't have a 'death wish'

Adriatic is very nice, but a bit crowded in summer,an going inland to north from greece is nice to.

Enjoy you trip!

cheers

Don't worry. Done greece this winter comming from cyprus (after they cancelled the fery to port said)over rhodos crete and then up the peloponez to athens. Beautiful. Not sure if summer is the best time for it though: too hot and too crowded.
Adriatic coast is safer than you would expect. the only problem is the high traffic http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/mad.gif (unbelivable)in full season.

If you're ready to go more inland and have some more time, i would't miss romania (though i am being subjective here)

cheers,
s

PS: sorry for that angry smily in the header: it was intended to be somewhere in the message and now i cannot get rid of it. kind'of new on this excellent site, you know
