Advises request for a Croatia Montenegro north Albania tour

Hi folks,
A friend of mine and myself are planning 10 days journey across Croatia, Montenegro and north of Albania.
We plan to be there during next year in September.
We have already been in Albania in 2011 (exiting and amazing trip!). The tour we did last year was: Durres-Theth-Koman-Fierze-Kukes-Peshkopie-Pogradec-Gjirokaster-Berat-Elbasan-Tirane-Durres.
We have two Transalp XLV 650 and we enjoy running on secondary dirty roads.
At the moment we are assessing where to go and looking for advises about interesting places to visit, roads etc.
We will go back and forward from Italy to Croatia taking the ferry in Ancona towards Split or Dubrovnik
If you have some GPS tracks (gpx files) of your tours are welcome.
Some questions:
Are there any constraints we need to know in advance to cross borders between Croatia-Montenegro and Montenegro-Albania or to drive in these countries? Do we have to proceed with any specific application for us or our motorbikes crossing the borders or driving in these countries? Thanks for your replies
Fabio

I passed through here on my way to Mongoliaand Siberia this year. No constraints, no previous applications needed, just the usual insurance game: green card, buy at the border or don't bother. I did't bother buying any in Albania, but there's loadsa coppers about. (but mostly interested in goods vehicles). Can't remember which balkan state it was, but one border guard kept my passport until I could prove I'd bought insurance - think it was Montenegro. If your into them, Hostel Anton in Tivat was a great stop. Obviously Dubrovnik is gorgeous but the Adriatic coastal road is awesome, some great twisty roads, great views and some nice wild campsites. I had a real adventure in Albania too:

I had the same experience in Montenegro. Friendly boarder staff, but held my passport until I had insurance.

In Montenegro, visit Durmitor if you get a chance, I think it has the worlds deepest gorge?

In Croatia smaller islands like Korcula are ok, but try the Plitvička national park and Zeljava airbase.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
