From Bulgaria to Georgia? By ferry?
 

Hello Folks!

I'm looking for a way to get myself and the bike from Bulgaria into direction Iran, with avoiding Turkey. I will have stayed more than half a year in Turkey till March 2013, will leave to Bulgaria and then can not enter till September next year. So I'm looking for a way how to circle around for getting forward into South-East direction into India...

Didn't find anything detailed, so far.

Has anybody suggestions for this project??

ı think you are not seriously talking..sent you some messages but didnt get a reply yet.
From Varna to Batumi there is a ferry line which you can travel with your bike but doesnt have a normal schedule.
just talked with Doug Wothke,he is in san fransisco currently and has a motocamp in idilevo.
You can send an Email to Mr.Ivo asking for details in first hand.

Seems this is the only solution for you.I know other options but do not recommend you as they will be adventure and very expensive.

I know all the problems you have met in ıran but you are in turkey and many biker friendly guys here..I am welknown by many bikers as the right guy in İstanbul to contact...

I remember the msg. according to the tires and your friend at Iran boarder, but that time we already left Iran further south.

If you are talking about sth. else, I'm not sure if I got it?:confused1:

But anyway, thanks again! I heard many good things about the motocampbg and I think I will get there in middle Dec, if I'll not freeze like hell....:freezing: and find a place to store the bike for a couple of months.

+1 for Doug & Polly's motocamp in Bulgaria...a real haven for bikers and always a friendly welcome. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for any bikers travelling through Bulgaria.

We are staying in Kadiköy at motorbiker, I met through CS. I introduced him into HU, because he is going into a longer trip himself next year...

His name is Alp, he mentioned that he already found some contact in HU here in Istanbul. Was not sure, maybe he was talking about you?? :)

I'm flying to Sofia on 22nd December and will stay the night at Motocamp. On 23rd I'll head for Turkey. Will park bike back there latest 4th Jan for a 5th Jan flight. Maybe see you there?

If the ferry from Varna falls through, you might want to consider riding 400 miles further on round the Black Sea to the seaport of Odessa in the Ukraine which also has a ferry to Georgia this usually runs once a week.
In fact, looking at that company's schedule, they also run a Varna option, the website is pretty informative and I found their agent in Odessa was good at responding to email questions.

Hi Chris!

Man, you are way braver than I'm. I'm hidding into Bulgaria from Istanbul on Fr and schedule two days to get there. Just to make sure, because today there was the first snow with 20 cm at the BG/TR -boarder. I guess it will not be barbeceue-time on Newyearsday... :)

I will leave BG already on 13th, so we will unfortunately miss each other...
Maybe the next time!? I will store my bike at the camp and come back in July :D

Shame we'll miss each other. Ivo at Motocamp did mention something about snow in December :innocent:. I'm hoping I can get the bike out of the village and onto the main road which will hopefully be cleared (or not?). If I can't get out of the village, I'll be forced to drink a lot of booze and maybe rent dirtbike and go for a ride in the forest. :Beach:

I arrived at the moto camp today and had an interesting riding. It was around 1°-3° most the time and very rainy in the mountains.
I was veeery happy, just 5 mins after I arrived in idilevo at started snowing and still keeps going on....

I wish you fun, if you really want to take out your bike... :cool4:

In the meantime your transalp has some more nice company... :)
