Experience from the Pyrenees anyone...?
 

I,m off to the Pyrenees the last weekend in May with a friend, and we have never been there before. We are having 3 days to our disposal, and are trying to find out what routes we should take. Our startingpoint is Andorra.

We are riding BMW F650 Dakars and do not plan to camp.

If there are anyone with exerience from the Pyrenees and/or can give us some route-suggestions we would be very happy.

En-route to Andorra from Barcelona May 1999. Spectacular scenery and challenging bends. Warm weather with a bit of snow on the tops. Sorry not much practical info as this was just a day trip while we were camping on the coast, but to wet your appetite.

last year i went from west to east.. for you east to west, take the N145 to Adrail, then swing north onto the N260 to Sort. From there take the C13 to Vielha, then into the on the N230 to Vilaller then turn onto the N260 to Castejon de Sos. stay on the N260 until broto then Biescas.. eventually will meet the N240. Follow this until the turn north for Burgui, Roncal, Isaba or if you wish the prettier route to Anso is the turn off just after Puenta de reina de jacca, after Jacca proper. FRom Anso take the road to Roncal and on to Isaba as before. Then to alto laza and on to Aribe and then Auritz, from there cross over into France. I did this spread leisurly over two days. camped at castle jon. it is twisty :)

Is Castle Jon the only place to stay or are there more possiblites for accomodation around in the Pyrenees? And where is Caslte Jon? Is it a nice place?

there are other places, but i just happened by the campsite there at about time to set up the tent. was i think 9 or 10 euros.. is about half way along from andorra. to find teh campsite, go through castejon to the cross roads, there is a little bridge you have to go over. turn right before the main road, before the bridge.. you will see it on your right as you approach. see here
