Escaping India

After doing some looking around it appears that india is the hardest place to just ride out of on a motorcycle. Almost impossible to go through China unless part of some big tour group. The only advice about Burma is to go around, and last time i checked Pakistan to Iran is in the middle of 2 countries currently at war with the U.S. I would really like to head south to Austrailia, but that means going through Burma. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Search and thou shall find as well.

a) Forget burma. It has always been considered as impossible, now even harder. Search the HUBB and you will find.
b) China is expensive, but possible. Search and thou shall find as well.
c) Pakistan should still be possible. (it obviously is: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...o-please-35125)
d) Iran is definitly no problem, unless you are american or female (sorry girls)

I personally have gone from Europe to India last August till November, and Pakistan was no problem beside the crappy roads. (not worse than india) But I have left Pakistan even before the state of emergency, but have been told by Private Message, that even during the state of emergency, it was no problem. (in baluchistan)

If you ask me, Pakistan is reasonably safe, as long as you stay away from the big cities.

About getting to Oz, I took the plane from Mumbai to Sydney. Can provide all details if interested. (To lazy to type the whole story right now.)

If you provide us with a bit more information, I can of course answer your questions a bit more detailed. (Your nationality, your bike, carnet, visas, how are getting to india, why you think its funny to put as your current location baghdad...)

I flew the bike from Chennai (aka Madras) to KL. See report at www.planitearth.co.uk - UK to Australia 2007 - Home Page then click on 'planning' then on 'trip transport' for details...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
