Death Valley
I plan to visit D.V for 3 days enroute to Phoenix, Az. March 18 2009
My question of anyone who have stayed and ridden : 1.Where is a good campground 2. I just purchased the F800GS and have stock Bridgestones , what trails might be best for me. I am a sport tourer ( K1200GT) prior to this and still own the GT. I would like to ride some easy trails and really begin to experience my new ride. I rode through D.V a f ew years ago on the GT but I know I missed so much due to that fact. ![]() thanks Billy

You may have to go south quite a ways to cross the Sierra depending on weather.

some links that may help.
Death Valley National Park Camping Page Map of Death Valley National Park, California/Nevada best to get a trail map at a gas station when you get there but here is one that is ok. It takes a bit of time to open. http://www.nps.gov/deva/planyourvisi...%20Roads-2.pdf some background info Death Valley National Park (U.S. National Park Service) still cool at night there at that time of the year cold on the pass. But it can heat up in the day. Dont try some of the things the nuts on ADV do there alone. Some of the ruts there are deeper than they look. Fully loaded bike and the mud will be hell (or heaven if you like that sorta thing) you may want something a bit better off road than the Bridgestones even if you are not going to try more technical stuff. I dont go off road much Patrick dose so heed his advice. |

March can be a good month for wildflowers, depending on the rains.

D.v.
Thanks for the heads up .
I will more than likely head down the coast from oregon and North of Sacramento go east. I think if weather and road conditions permit scout out Yosemite and Kings Canyon . I know it is early but I have in the past about same time of year ridden a portion of those parks. your insight is appreciated Billy
