Daily distance in India

Hi ;

I estimated a distance of 500 km. could be traveled in one day in India.

But , someone who lived there for 3 years told me that from Delhi to Agra , which is roughly 160 km. , takes 6 hours. And he added the road between these two cities were maybe the best road in India.

This would change and ruin all my plans since it means Agra-Varanasi , thats 565 km. , would take about 3-4 days.

So my question is ; How many km.s can i travel in one day in India ?

Thanks ,

Hiya

I think 500ks a day is optimistic. I have just travelled from Udapuir in Rajaakstan to Aramol in the northern part of Goa, its about 1350ks and took me 3 days of 10 unpleasant hours of hard riding a day and i dont think i hung about. Although i did lose a little time as my chain snapped twice.

I was chatting to another guy who did that same route and he took 6 days, although he was on an enfield!?!

The roads vary considerably and on very good sections with little traffic you probably could, if you had to, do 500ks, but others that are bad with bad traffic may limit you to more like 300ks per day, if you are lucky.

It all depends how you ride, but i would not reccommend to anyone to ride hard and fast in India for lond periods. It aint predictable or safe enough to do that.

Take it easy, enjoy the trip and arrive in one piece.

Hi ;

Glad everything is going fine and you made it up to there. I will consider 300km/day for India as you have suggested.

By the way were you able to find 15-50 oil in Pakistan and India ?

Take care ,

Hiya

The last time i bought oil was Quetta and as i remember was only 20/50. But it took me a long time to find oil with an SG or SH rating, but i did and it was expensive in comparison with lower rated oil. Need some more now and i will let you know how i get on in India!

Hi there,
The distance you can cover in India largely depends on where and when (what time of the day). Early mornings mean that there is no congestion in the towns you pass on the way and three towns mean atleast an hour saved.

Plus there are many double laned roads now those can have you munching miles quickly. Then again there are miserable roads too.

I did a trip across the Himalayas from Bombay to Ladakh and Kashmir and I was averaging around 200kms a day.
