Cuzco in Feb?

Has anyone done the route up into Cuzco in Febuary? I've heard it's still then rainy season up there. I can always head south into Chile and see Cuzco and Lake Titcaca on the return trip, although a break from this peruvian desert would be more than welcome right now.

I'm in Lima but should be leaving in the next day or two depending on the garage that's looking at my bike. Anyone passing though drop me a line.

All the best,
Jeff

Cuzco

Hi jeff
We are in Cuzco at present, and all is well. Came up from Nazca. The first section of road to Puquio was badly potholed and took about 3 hours to do 170km. After that the road was paved and fine, but twisty. Fab scenery.
The weather has been lovely for the last 4 days, but today is overcast and showery. It tends to rain in the afternoon after 2pm ish. If you make it here in the next 5 days we may still be around. Hostal Casa Grande (just off Plaza des Armas on Santa Catalina) has parking for the bikes and is reasonable.
Sara and Scouse

Enjoy!

Sara,

I just realized that you are riding with scouse. Hope you are enjoying Cuzco. Machu Picchu is most beautiful in the rainy season, tho the clouds are lower. I've been 7 times (having lived in Peru so many years) but only this last time was in Jan (rainy season). I highly recommend getting off at km 104 and walking the remaining way. You arrive at MP in the early evening and really need to stay over a day to see the ruins, but the walk in by the Inca Trail gives a whole new outlook to the experience.

Greet Jeff for me at Norton's (tho it may be closed as he is moving over towards you) Enjoy your time there.
