Did the trip from Europe to Oz with my girlfriend oct 2007-apr 2008. It sure is a great ride, probably the best we´ve ever done, I only wish we´d had a bit more time!!

Why not ship from Darwin to Dili (East Timor) or somewhere in Indonesia? Indo was in our opinion one of the (if not THE) most interesting country on the whole trip, most certainly worth a visit. We actually decided we better skip East Timor, cos there had just been an assasination attempt on their president and prime minister, and situation just seemed too uncertain, so we went from Bali to Perth. This change of route was a real shame, because I hear it just gets better and better east from Bali. But even between North Sumatra and Bali was a great, great experience!

You´ll need the carnet for the bike to get to Indonesia - but if you plan to go to Europe, and arent wealthy enough to invest on going through China, you´ll probably go to India&Pakistan, where it will be required, too.

I'm planning a trip to Europe but taking the long way to get there. I riding from Brisbane to Darwin then ill be heading across to Indonesia, Malaysia shipping to India. Then I am wanting to head across land to Africa down the east coast and up the west coast to Europe.

I have no idea how long this is going to take me or the cost yet, but im working on that!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
