Can you get hold of Diesel in Asia
 

I am going to drive to thailand in jan, through Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, China and Lois. Am wondering if I will be able to buy diesel or is petrol the only fuel?

Hi Christian we have recently covered all these countries and Diesel is readily available in all (in Iran only about one in four stations has Diesel and nobody will believe that you need it unless you are driving a truck but just look out for anywhere with a line of trucks and that will have diesel its also 5 times cheaper than petrol at about 1.5 euro cents a litre) If travelling in Indonesia the national oil company is nearly bankrupt so always keep topped up! Enjoy the trip.

Diesel is definitely available here in every Petrol Pump ! availability is the same as that of petrol!

Coming overland from Aus to UK (twice)we found that Diesel was easier to get than petrol. Even when you dont think there is any around always ask a local as it is available somewhere....you just have to know where.

In Pakistan, diesel is available on every gas station alongwith petrol. It is also cheaper than petrol, almost half of the petrol price.

Diesel Rs 37.25 per litre
Petrol Rs 55 to 64 per litre (depending on grade).
