Camping in Ireland

Hi all

Yeh I know.... I should be planning for S.America and Vietnam but I've been asked to locate a bike friendly campsite.

Can anyone give any recommendations for places in or around Dublin?

Thanks

Hey Sean

There is only one campsite in the Dublin area. Some friends of mine stayed there last year when they were here for the British Superbikes round at Mondello Park. The site is clean, spacious and well appointed and they had no problem with the many bikers who stayed there,

If you need any assistance at all, just give me a shout.

Hi Sean

I'm back in the UK - fancy meeting up for a brew sometime?

There's an excellent publication produced by the Irish Tourist board called "Caravan & Camping Irelend" www.camping-ireland.ie
Cost 3 euros.

All the places I went to were great - no problems for bikes.

Thanks monk, camp site sounds ideal and I'll pass the information on.

And Fuzzy, would be great to meet up and hear about your travels first hand. Anyway, it's ages since I've discussed the realtive merits of hard and soft luggage with another overlander! I'll give you a shout next time I'm down in Notts, probably in a couple of weeks. Glad you're back safe and sound.

Cheers

Hi Sean

There's a great campsite right next to the beach in Rush, about 15 miles north of Dublin. Seven and a half Euros a night.

Be sure to ride in the Wicklow mountains over the Wicklow Gap and especially the Sally Gap; a great day out!

Should have said, if you need a tour guide just let me know. Any excuse to take time off work.
