Camping in Argentina, Chile, Bolivia

Hi. Anyone here with any experience of camping in these countries ?

Is it possible to rough camp or must you find official campsites ?

I've mentally ruled out camping in Peru/Ecuador but the idea of camping out in the other countries really appeals a lot.

Any feedback appreciated :thumbup1:

I have camped throughout Chile and Argentina with out problem. You will however in some places have to use the local camping facilitys but these are cheap (between 5-10 USD). These camp sites tend to be near or in citys. If you stay clear of towns and citys rough camping should be no problem for the most part.

just wondering why have you mentally ruled out camping in peru & bolivia?...we found some of the most beautiful campsites ever in those countries...don't be afraid, you can always, always, always ask locals in rural towns, villages and in the countryside if you can camp in their yard/fram, etc.9 out of 10 times they'll invite you with open arms, the only time we were refused was when the owners weren;'t there, and the careatakers didn't feel comfortable granting us permission to stay.

You;ll have no rpbs camoing in Arg/Chile...might have to pay sometimes but there's always a spot you can find....so many lakes, rivers, streams, beaches, etc.

have a blast!
