Brasil and Argentina

Hello everyone, id like to know if any riders have attempted to ride around Brasil and down to argentina?

I live in the u.s. But this is something id like to plan, but dont know much about it, and where to go and what to avoid.

Can i rent a bike, or should i ship my bike over?

Im trying to find other riders who have done it, and just for some general words of wisdom. I have not narrowed it down to the country. Just would like to go to brasil because I speak the language. But im also interested in Chile and Peru.

Anyone?

Back on the subject...

3 weeks !!

No way you are going to do anything in South America in only 3 weeks !

Count on 3 days lost coming and going from the US. If you ship your bike, you will lose a week just paying fees and getting it out of customs and setting it up, so give up on that unless you are going to leave it there for the future....

Best bet is to rent a bike and stay in one country, or sign up for one of those moto tours that go from Cuzco (Machu Picchu in Peru) to Foz do Iguazu (Waterfalls in Brazil).

Remember, you can lose 3 weeks in SA just waiting for the general strike to be over in that country... look at Argentina this month and Peru last month!

Oh, and I think Stretcher Monkey has a point. Don't post websites with lewd material... :eek3:

Hope that helps...

Thats not good news. I guess shiping the bike over is not the best. Now for finding a company that rents in South America.

As a beginner to south america, where is the best country to start at?

Guia Quatro Rodas

Hey!

I traveled by motorbike in Argentine and Brazil in 2005. There are not many bikers who take the Brazil-route. For information look up my website Welcome to Wonderful Travels, the sections "regions" and "about disctances".

For traveling through Brazil, use the roadatlas "Guia Quatro Rodas". This atlas, which you can buy in every bookshop or kiosk in Brazil, gives you not only information about road conditions but also about safety. Brazil has a problem of violent crimes. Never NEVER travel at night! Keep your safety in mind. Apart from that, Brazil is a very interesting country and you will certainly enjoy it.
