Bolivia-Chile border between salt lakes

Just planning my route from Lapaz to Chile. Is there a border crossing between the lakes?

Hello Alex,
you have to check out for Bolivia in Uyuni and check in in Chile in San Pedro de Atacama (that means - make all your paperwork). In between you have 3 - 4 days time (to pass the Salar de Uyuni, Laguna colorado and Laguna verde). You have to look for the gasoline - there is no gas station between Uyuni and San Pedro (just some shops that sell some benzin).

Thanks Blitz! Do you have a gps waypoints of aduanas and migrations on each side of the border? Is it easy to find it? I`m leaving tomorrow morning from Lapaz.

Hi there

I don't have the actual waypoints, but if you follow my tracks(from Uyuni to San Pedro de Atacama with one stopover at a village), assuming you have a garmin and can add tracks, then that will take you to the aduana to cancel your TVIP on the Bolivian side, then you have to backtrack a bit(all recorded) and head to Chile. You still need to stamp yourself out in Uyni before you leave there

Send me a pm with your email address and I will send the GPX file

Cheers
TS

Hi

I never recieved any PM, but I sent the GPX files to your email address, it would be nice if we could attach small files like GPX to posts :)

Toyark 5 Feb 2012 11:53

There you go Richard.bier
When you do a post, scroll down to 'Manage Attachments' , press 'Browse, to locate the files on your computer then 'Upload'
Job done.
