Organization is not my strong point, but I am dragging myself through the visa requirements of this trip.
Can the travellers that have done this trip before remember the names of the border crossings they used. Entry and exit to a country is a common question on visa applications. I’ve also been informed by a visa company that Tajikistan now requires you to have a guide.

I’ve decided to skip the route that requires the ferry across the Caspian Sea, from everything I’ve read this crossing is a bit of a mare anyway!

The thinking was:-

Ukraine to Russia Business multi entry visa for 1 year £425
or a second passport and two double entry visas apx. the same cost.

Russia to Kazakhstan visa in person 1 month triple entry cost not known

Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan single entry 1 month £96.50

Uzbekistan to Tajikistan single entry 1 month £119,50

Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan multiple 1 month £99.50

Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan as above

Kazakhstan to Russia as above

Russia to Mongolia single 1 month £79.50

Mongolia to Russia as above
Russia to Kazakhstan as above
Kazakhstan to Russia as above
Russia to Europe

The problem with the above route is that the Kazakhstan visa is only one month making the above impossible.

I’m now thinking that the only way to do the trip is to start or end with a massive treck through Russia! Thereby not having to re-entre Kazakhstan, this is a different holiday altogether and maybe a new thread.
