Wink How do I get an Angolan Visa?

My wife and I are wanting to ride south from Gabon and through to Angola. We have seen quite a few threads stating the best way of getting through the Congo and DRC to Angola (Brazza - Kinshasa - Matadi). Any other ideas out there? Any updates on how to get the Angolan visa when coming from the north (how do I get around having a letter of introduction from a person in country?)

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing all replies. Cheers,

Jeff and Melanie.

Hi Jeff!

We got the Visa in 2006 in Abuja/Nigeria. I heard recently that it is still possible to get it there....
There is still the possibility for the transit visa in Matadi/DRC.

You like to meet for a ?

Greetings from Canning;-)))

Billy,

I am leaving for Angola in the morning. I spend several months a year there and have a multiple entry work visa for the type of engineering consulting that I do there.

You do need an "invitation" but these can be arranged for if you have established contacts in the country that are willing to write the letter for you. There is a thread at advrider.com of an adventure in Angola via motorcycle there may be information there. Some folks have gotten letters from sponsoring hotels and tour groups. However, your best bet is to get a sponsor who works for the government.

Mike
