Aussie coming to Montreal in October

Hi everyone,
yes I realise it will be cooling down then, but I'll be heading to Montreal for a mate's wedding, so if I'm going all the way to Canada, why not try and get some two wheeled touring in, who know's when I'll get back there.

I realise its a big place, so was planning on sticking to the Eastern seaboard, first and foremost is, getting a bike!

Can anyone advise me on where to look first? The usual suspects, craiglist, ebay? My french is non-existent.
I have a local address of a freiend i can use for registration, but i can't find any info on insurance requrirements?

I'll have a pillion, but I'm happy to crawl along on anything I can get. I was guessing the mid-sized older cruiser market might give me the best value, with people off-loading to get a 1000cc plus bike, (that's assuming its similar to the US market).

Any information, on any aspects, would be greatly appreciated.

regards
Steven

Welcome to Montreal

Hello to you,

October some times is a good season, depends when you'll arrive.

What do you want exactly? What kind of bike ?.

You have some dealers here like motointer(www.motointer.com/ ) or Monette (www.monettesports.com/) If you have any questions contact me.

thanks for the reply, and sorry for tking so long to respond, my modem blew up, and i haven't had a chance to replace it.

I am looking for any bike really, but realistically, I will have a pillion, so 650cc would be desireabl, anything from an old KLR, to a little cruiser, standard bike etc, I don't mind. Happy to ride o a 250cc Virago if I have to.

I have an address to register the bike too in Montreal, my main concern now is insurance.

I'll send you a pm,
thanks again

Steven

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
