Are anyone in a 4x4 thinking Nordkaap Dec 08

Hello,

I live here in Oslo, Norway.
I was wondering if any 4x4 groups, persons, are thinking about going the full way up to Nordkaap this winter in all the snow.

I have christmas break from say 20th December until around Monday 5th January.

I would think about joining a convoy, as it would be rather snowy up that way.

I am not sure it would be safe for bikes to drive on such icy roads, but who knows.

Possible for bikes? yes ! safe? err not really, but damn good fun!

trelleborg tyres with spikes and some proper kit would certainly make it feasible.

Indu is yer man!

I wasn't thinking of doing a trip like this this year but I might be interested in taking the 4x4 as long as I can bring a sledge along.

Interesting! I was just thinking of a quick up-and-down in roughly the same period in our 2cv. I first thought about taking the bikes, but I have no experience whatsoever riding in icy conditions. I might as well learn though :-)

Keep me posted!

daft as it might sound, a 2cv would not be a bad machine for such a trip, narrow spiked tyres, light weight, aircooled.....
only issue would be keeping the windscreen ice free!
you could drive whilst in a sleeping bag

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
