Spring
There are much nicer roads from GVA heading to Venise, if this is where you really want to go. Basically you could do this trip in only one day if you wish -- by the highway. It really depends what you want to see.
Nicest scenery in the Alps but spring is early and you risk getting snow and icy roads at that time of the year.
Ideally you could head South of GVA and into La Vallée Verte towards Martigny in Switzerland, and then South to the Col du Grand St-Bernard, down to Aoste and sleep in Biella, you may wish to take time visit Oropa Monastry. It's quick jump from there to drive around the Italian lakes, a full day ride, beautiful and warm. A good idea would be the 2 large lakes on that day and organize the itinerary so you spend the night in Bellizona in order to drive slightly northbound and link up to the Engadine road.
In Saint-Moritz I would head South-East towards Lago Bianco and at La Motta head North bound and enter the Parco Del Livignese (SS301) all the way to SS38 and Passo Stelvio. Again snow and icy road, if the Pass is open, my be a problem during Spring. I suggest to sleep in Merano or Ultimo, and take the Alta Adige road South and after 120 km just set the GPS on Venise and it should take you there passing through nice roads for most of the last leg of your trip.
There are great GPS tracks her: http://www.viamichelin.fr/tpl/mag6/a...alpes-2011.htm
