USA: Another Long Ride In America

20-odd days before we fly from the UK to Canada and pick up our Moto Guzzi Breva 750 ready for our 5th (4th on the Guzzi) tour of the USA.

We´ve previously rode from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast and now it is time to explore the north to south. So this year we will be riding from Toronto down to Florida.

BUT, absolutely loving the deserts, we still hope to then head north west and return to Arizona and Utah.

On 3 previous trips, averaging around 6 -8 weeks each time, we have clocked up 28,000 miles on the Guzzi, so our first priority this year will be a full service before setting off.

I hope you will follow us on the ride. Meanwhile, you can check out last year´s ride and lots of photos here

From Toronto to Florida? Looks like you"ll hit the Blue Ridge Mountains, which offers fantastic riding. Check out T.W.O. in Suches, GA. This is a two-wheel-only campground and lodge in the middle of the mountains. A little down the street from there, Dahlonega, GA is a Guzzi dealership.

Let me know if and when you might be in the greater Atlanta, GA area. Maybe we can hook up for a cold one.

In my younger days, I rode an 850GT :cool4:

Hi Thomas. Many thanks for that info - especially the Guzzi dealer; they are are rare as hens teeth in the USA! We did ride through the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2007 - beautiful. Nice to have recommendations of especially great rides and good, biker-friendly campsites.
We have friends in Clearview, Florida who we are going to visit. So after that, heading NW towards Arizona, we´ll be skirting Atlanta (we always try to avoid major cities and heavy traffic) . We´ll try to make contact and it would be great to have a cold one and a yak with another Guzzista.
Thanks again, Christine :)

Glad you have had good experiences with MG, I too like to travel on my MG (Norge). Not sure where I'm heading this summer, probably follow the weather and make the Moto Guzzi National Rally this June in Oregon, lots of bikes and the best MG mechs in the business, always a good time:

Plus One on Nat. Guzzi Rally!

I hope to make the Guzzi rally also! These guys throw a really good party!
I have no idea what John Day, Oregon is like, hope it's not too hot! There are several good rallies out West this Summer, including the ADV thing in Montana, the Tynda travelers rally and of course the HU rallies in BC and in California.

The National Guzzi Rally should be a "Must Do" for Guzzi fans. Bit of a hike From Toronto or Florida but hey, as they say: The West Is The Best! I always do a U turn at S. Dakota! Nothing more to see East of there, IMO.

I just can't imagine riding through the South in the middle of Summer in 95F temps (or higher) with 90% humidity. Best done is October/November.

Good luck, safe riding!

Love you guys, already :) Agree 100% about east of S. Dakota. BUT, friends are friends, and we go back a long way. Never had any desire to visit Florida - but I am sure my ignorance will, once again, be splattered to the realms of just that! Ignorance. I have yet to find a place in the USA that I have not been jaw-droppingly amazed at.
